*** Not Just Reading, Writing, and 'Rithmetic ***
Going back to school involves more than getting ready to study your three
R's. Shopping for back-to-school clothes can sometimes be as hectic as
shopping for Christmas gifts. Ok, well, maybe not *that* hectic, but it
can be frustrating. With many stores now having shopping available online,
you can get your back-to-school shopping done almost completely stress
free. Here are some good sites to look at for your back-to-school shopping
needs:
Some store sites which have shopping available online:
Abercrombie and Fitch -- http://www.abercrombie.com
Old Navy -- http://www.oldnavy.com
Eddie Bauer -- http://www.eddiebauer.com
Nike Products -- http://www.nike.com
Sketchers Shoe Products -- http://www.sketchers.com
JC Pennys -- http://www.jcpennys.com
Sears -- http://www.sears.com
At each of the sites listed above you can browse through different
sections, either by type of clothes (shirts or pants, etc) or by department
(i.e. at http://www.sears.com you can choose between shopping for clothes
or power tools). If you do decide to do your shopping online, be sure to
have your credit card handy; all of the stores above do have secure site
for submitting your credit card order, but not all of them accept checks.
Below are some sites that do not offer online ordering, or are just cool
sites to browse through:
Tiffany and Co. -- http://www.tiffanys.com
The Limited -- http://www.limited.com
Victoria's Secret -- http://www.victoriassecret.com
Lane Bryant -- http://www.lanebryant.com
Reebok Products -- http://www.reebok.com
Dr. Martens -- http://www.drmartens.com
Men's Warehouse -- http://www.menswarehouse.com
Kohl's -- http://www.kohls.com
If you don't see your favorite store in these lists, don't worry! Try
doing a search for them on your favorite search engine (like Yahoo or
Google). It's possible that you wouldn't ever need to venture out in
back-to-school shopping chaos again.

*** Download From Where You Left Off ***
We've all been in the middle of a large download and been unexpectedly
disconnected from the server or lost our connection to the Internet. It's
especially frustrating since you have to start that large download over...
Or do you?
Several software packages are now available that let you resume downloading
where you left off if you suddenly get disconnected in the middle of a
download. These programs work in the background and take care of resuming
an interrupted download automatically. You can find several of these
programs at download sites such as http://download.cnet.com and
http://www.tucows.com , searching for "Download Managers" when you get there.
A couple we might suggest are Getright ( http://www.getright.com/ ) and
Go!Zilla ( http://www.gozilla.com ).
*** Schaefer's TV & Appliance Center - Advertisement ***
Schaefer's is an independently owned and

decades ago, Schaefer's TV & Appliance is a
22,000 square-foot "superstore" today,

success of Schaefer's is key to repeat
business. If a customer happens to have a
problem with a product, Schaefer's will bend
over backwards to get it solved. Our service
center is the largest in the city, and has been
voted Lincoln's #1 servicer for 10 years in a
row! A knowledgeable sales staff, express

service representatives are just a few of the
ways in which we at Schaefer's distinguish
ourselves from the rest. Stop by our showroom

*** Make Your Own On-line Photo Album ***
Now that summer is almost over and family vacations have come and gone,
this is usually the time when you want to share your vacation photos to
family and friends. We've found a quick and easy way to share them online
without the headaches of sending them through email or creating your own
web site: http://www.webshots.com .
By going to the link called "My Photos" you can sign up for an account and
upload your pictures for family and friends to view. Once you've uploaded
your pics you can send an email to those you wish to view your photos
and attach a link to your page. From there, family and friends can view
your pictures without the time consuming task of downloading extra large
email attachments and can keep revisiting your site without asking you to
resend the pictures through the mail. This is a fun and interesting way
to keep family updated on vacations, the little ones growing up, and more!
*** The Capital Soccer Association - Advertisement ***
Capital Soccer Association specializes in
teaching soccer. However we recognize that
soccer, or any other youth sport is merely
one tool in the development of a young
child. Teamwork and sportsmanship through
knowledge and proficiency of the game are
our main goals.

*** New Life for Old PCs ****
The time for kids to go back to school is almost upon us, are you ready?
The kids will almost certainly need to use your computer to do homework, type
up reports, and research subjects on the Internet, but do you really want
them to take over your computer? Of course not, but there is a solution.
If you're like many of us, you've got an older computer sitting around
gathering dust, or know someone who does. Many old and outdated computers
have a couple of years of life left in them, and giving the computer to the
children for their schoolwork will let the both of you work at the same
time. Although it won't run the newest software, play the new games, or be
the fastest thing on the block, it costs you nothing and allows both you
and your children to be productive at the same time.
Almost any computer with at least the following specifications should still
be usable.
IBM-Compatible:
16 megs Memory
500 meg Hard Drive
75 Mhz CPU
Any modem 14.4, and above
Running at least Windows 95
Macintosh:
12 megs Memory
200 meg Hard Drive
33 Mhz CPU
Any modem 14.4, and above
Running System 7, or above
Giving your child their very own computer will give him or her a definite
edge. Computer knowledge is a requirement both in school and in the job
market.
If your children are younger, we also recommend installing software on their
computer to help keep them from visiting inappropriate sites. Here are
links to some of the more popular software packages for this purpose.

*** Mr. Internet ***
Q: I heard something about a Netscape vulnerability called "Brown
Orifice." What is this? Does it have anything to do with the Cult of
the Dead Cow's Back Orifice program?
A: The Brown Orifice Netscape vulnerability is a flaw in Netscape that
allows the program to arbitrarily share files on your local computer
with other web users. The BO code is a web server, and can be called
from a remote web site, so with a carefully crafted link, a web site
operator could start sharing your entire hard disk on the web. The
home page of the program is available at:
http://www.brumleve.com/BrownOrifice/
Brown Orifice affects Netscape Communicator versions 4.0 through 4.74 on
Windows, Macintosh and Unix operating systems. This vulnerability does
not affect Netscape 6 Preview Release 1 or Preview Release 2. Netscape
will soon release a version of Netscape Communicator that is not subject to
this vulnerability. Users of Communicator 4.04 through 4.74 can disable Java
to prevent the exploit. To do so, follow these steps:
1. In Communicator, select Preferences from the Edit menu. The Preferences
dialog box will appear.
2. In the Preferences dialog box, select the Advanced category.
3. Uncheck the box labeled Enable Java.
4. Click OK to close the Preferences dialog box.
Mr. Internet is a regular feature of the INews, and he welcomes questions
of any kind. Just mail them to mrinternet@inebraska.com, and he'll answer
one or two each issue. Those he doesn't use will not necessarily be
answered, and you should still use 'manager' and 'accounts' for regular
business.
